I met Sammi at Minnehaha Falls on a sunny afternoon. I immediately noticed the dreadlocks but it was more than that as she had a very unique look. She was out with her young daughter enjoying the falls on a nice day. As I approached her I said hello and told her I liked her hair and thought she had an interesting look about her. I asked her for a portrait and explained my portrait project and she was more than happy to participate.
Sammi had a happy and vibrant personality and her interests suited her well as she love hula-hooping and painting. She paints what is called sacred geometry. It’s a term I’ve never heard of before and had to Google it afterwards to better understand the art form. But from what I can gather it has to do with a painting geometric designs that are of religious symbols and structures. While Sammi isn’t painting and hula-hooping she is a server at Pyscho Suzi's Motor Lougne located in NordEast Minneapolis.
