I met Amy at the Art-a-Whirl festival in the Northeast Minneapolis. She is an artist that makes custom imagery on glass panels and ceramic tile. The imagery she creates gets permanently fused to the panels and tiles. Amy was reluctant at first when I asked her for her portrait. She is also a photographer and is always used to being the one behind the camera. We talked talked for awhile longer and she changed her mind as she was intrigued by my project.
Amy has a new piece of commissioned art that is going up at the Metropolitan State University St. Paul MN campus. I included a photo of this work (the wavy tiles). She also has as another project she is hoping to land for the Raleigh-Durham North Carolina Airport. This work is still in the very early stages and is a smaller prototype of the polygon tiles with imagery imprinted on each of them to make up a larger mural.
