I met 100 People: 009 - Walter

May 12, 2015

I met Walter walking down the street with his wife Florence.  They were an awesome looking couple and knew they had a story to tell.  They were headed to a performance at the Guthrie Theater and meeting some other family there.  They were gracious enough to stop to help me for my project.

Walter was a pure joy to talk to and told me some stories how he grew up in Vienna Austria.  He met his wife Florence in Madison Wisconsin.  Walter was a math professor and Florence was a student at the time.  They both spent several years in New York also but they have currently settled down here in the Twin Cities area for now.

Walter was very happy and seemed excited that I had stopped him to make his portrait.  I got the feeling he could have talked to me for hours right there on the street... he had so many great stores to tell and he reminding me of my Dad in a way.  Unfortunately time wasn’t on our side and it was time to go so they wouldn’t be late for the theater performance.

I feel honored and lucky to meet such a great couple.  Walter really has a shining spirit full of joy, and I wish I could have talked with him longer. I hope to meet him again in the future.  Walter, I wish you well going forward!
